In the Spotlight
This section is designed to provide evidence based information to people affected by MS regarding possible therapies so that they can make appropriate choices, and know the relevant research background.
It is important to the MS Society that we address the questions and concerns raised by people with MS by focusing on relevant topics within this section.
Often the media inadvertently over-hype certain treatments or therapies. Equally there are no controls over what is posted on the internet and no regulations over the validity of information written there. This section aims to give people affected by MS clear and accurate information regarding issues related to MS which are often in the media.
A new information leaflet has also been produced which is aimed to help people find out more about how to make sense of the wealth of information available in the news and on the internet. The leaflet is available for download below and more information is available on the evidence based medicine matters and Sense about Science websites.
Published information on current potential therapies for MS can be found on the Potential Therapies section of the website.

Evaluating scientific claims
Every month there are many reports about promising research, medical breakthroughs and wonder drugs, but questions remain over the reliability of such claims. This leaflet is aimed to help you find out more about how to evaluate these claims and make sense of the wealth of information available in the news and on the internet.
