Keep Warm Keep Well during these cold months

The snowdrops are out so hopefully spring is on its way but we're still having a lot of cold weather.

If you would like lots of useful tips on keeping warm and well as well as all about financial support available there is a very useful Government website. Keep Warm Keep Well is a national campaign to reduce cold-related illness and deaths during winter. You'll find information and advice about how to stay well in winter by keeping warm and what financial support is available.

New Northern Voice Newsletter Editor appointed

Christine HodsonWe're delighted to announce that Christine Hodson has been appointed as the Northern Voice Newsletter editor.

Christine is very well qualified for the role as her experience is in newsletter production for the NHS and Age Concern.

She worked as a nurse for 30 years both in hospitals and in the community, before taking early retirement due to ill health.

Christine has had MS for 12 years and has experienced many aspects of the illness, saying she feels "well versed in volunteering for this role." She added: "I look forward to editing for Northern Voice with all your help and support, and look forward to meeting you all."

Counselling services offered

a picture of a nurse talking to patientHave you recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis? Does MS affects you in some way? Are you a partner or carer of someone with MS? If you would like to talk to someone about your situation then a counselling service is being offered by Manchester branches.
Often people do not want to speak to members of their family, or their partners, about their diagnosis or the way they are feeling but get frustrated that there is no one they can confide in. Some people do not initially wish to talk about the diagnosis. But as time goes on, they want to confide in someone other than friends and family. It is at these times they may want to consider counselling.
You don’t need to be referred or have any diagnosis to be seen. You may still benefit from talking to a qualified, experienced counsellor in a safe and confidential setting.
The sessions will take place on a Wednesday afternoon at:

Trafford Therapy Centre
The Cornerhouse,
Fourth Avenue,
Trafford Park,
M17 1DB

We would recommend a donation of £5 per session. Please note that there is a limit on availability and a maximum of 10 sessions.
For more information please contact Annie Jones by telephone on 07958 176 404 or email j.annie@tiscali.co.uk

It is always rewarding to be able to help people find what they are looking for. That is why we want to set up an information point at the Salford Royal Monday morning clinic.

Shift MS

shift.msShift.ms is a community for young people affected by multiple sclerosis. Users can share, support and interact with each other throughout the site.

Sometimes it's good to know where things are, who's having a party where, or just that there are people near you dealing with the same stuff.
