Shining Stars

The MS Society’s annual Shining Star Award Scheme is designed to recognise outstanding individual contributions by volunteers who are working with, or on behalf of, people affected by MS.

The recipients of the awards are volunteers who have been nominated by volunteers.

The Shining Stars started as a pilot scheme in 1999 and has been going ever since. They were introduced as a way to give volunteers recognition for their hard work. There are 9000 volunteers nationally in the MS Society and represent approximately 95% of our “workforce”.

Each branch or region can only make one nomination per year to award a shining star.

Dermot Drysdale

Dermot has worked on the Regional Team for six years helping with volunteer recruitment and acting as Treasurer. He particularly helped with the Annual Regional Conference each year and was a huge asset to the team.

Dermot’s certificate reads:

“In recognition of all the hard work you have done as Beancounter for the Kent Region, with thanks for your humour, your thoughtfulness and your unstinting support.”
