Shining Star 2008

The MS Society’s annual Shining Star Award Scheme is designed to recognise outstanding individual contributions by volunteers who are working with, or on behalf of, people affected by MS.

The recipients of the awards are volunteers who have been nominated by volunteers.

The Shining Stars started as a pilot scheme in 1999 and has been going ever since. They were introduced as a way to give volunteers recognition for their hard work. There are 9000 volunteers nationally in the MS Society and represent approximately 95% of our “workforce”.

Each branch can only make one nomination per year to award a shining star.

Christine Eastwood – Gravesend & District Branch

Christine has worked tirelessly for the Gravesend & District branch, raising funds, providing support, working every Thursday at the Drop-in Centre in Swanscombe and keeping up the spirits of the other volunteers and members of the Branch.

When she first joined the Gravesend committee she claimed she couldn’t do much but would just be a ‘gofer’ but she has proved to be an invaluable member of the team.
