Here in the Kent region, volunteers are our life-force; enabling us to provide the support, advice and services at a local level. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our branches and help collectively make even more of a difference to people affected by MS in the community.

New volunteers to launch our South East Kent Branch!

At present, we are working on re-launching our South East Kent Branch and we are always looking for more volunteers to give a helping hand. Do you live in the area and feel you could give some time to help collectively make a difference in the local community? If you feel you have skills or experience that you could lend to this new branch committee, we would love to hear from you.

In addition to this, we are also looking to welcome volunteers to more specific roles …

Branch Chair to help lead the growing team and help them make even more of a mark!

You would:
• Provide leadership to the committee
• Ensure that the committee works together as an effective team to provide services and activities necessary to meet the needs of local people affected by MS.
• Motivate and support committee members, resolving any arising disputes or issues
• Lead the team to identify and develop new activities and services
• Encourage and support recruitment of new volunteers to the team.

Newsletter and Website editors - Are you PC literate with good communication skills? The branch is looking for both a website editor and a newsletter editor to help them communicate effectively to their membership and the public. Training, support and templates are available.


Sittingbourne Branch

Transport Officer - You would ensure that the branch provides appropriate transport services to members that attend meetings, outings and leisure activities. You will research and communicate up to date information on available transport options. This role also takes responsibility for any maintenance and operation of branch vehicles including legal requirements and guidance.

MS Support Volunteers - The branch would like to recruit more MS support volunteers to work as part of a team together. You could be answering enquiries, carrying out home visits (should you wish to do these) and generally providing information, support and advice to people affected by MS in the local area. Full training will be provided and a Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.

Fundraising Officer – We rely on branch fundraising ventures to run the services and support we can offer in the local area. We would love to welcome a new Fundraising Officer to take ownership of our fundraising goals for the year. You could be organising fundraising events, either in their planning, on the day itself or afterwards.

You could also be arranging collections, representing the branch at community events or liaising with companies and individuals. It could also involve overseeing grant applications to appropriate trusts and funding bodies.

Fundraising Volunteers – To support our Fundraising Officer role and create an enthusiastic fundraising team, we would like to welcome volunteers to help support or jointly co-ordinate events in the area – whether it be collecting at a flag day or helping at a local fundraiser. A little bit of your time would be greatly appreciated!


Canterbury Branch

Vice Chair - Would you like to work with the branch chair to help lead the branch and oversee activities? You could make a positive difference to the way the branch supports people affected by MS and support the branch chair with their role.

MS Support Officers - The branch would like to recruit more MS support volunteers to work as part of a team together. You could be answering enquiries, carrying out home visits (should you wish to do these) and generally providing information, support and advice to people affected by MS in the local area. Full training will be provided and a Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.

Fundraising Volunteers – You could help organise, coordinate and support fundraising events, either in their planning, on the day itself or afterwards. This role could include arranging local events, collecting funds at flag days, representing the branch at community events or liaising with individuals.

Publicity Officer - Do you have good communication skills and enjoy spreading the word? The branch is looking for a publicity officer to promote both the branch’s work, its events and increase the profile of MS in the community. You will also help develop the promotional materials and create links with the local media.

Social Secretary - We would love to welcome someone to coordinate social activities for our members, arranging talks, outings and events, contacting speakers, arranging for payment and liaising frequently with our Secretary and Chair. You will also plan and produce a “calendar of events”.


Maidstone Branch

Vice Chair - Our branch chair helps lead our team and ensures that the committee works together to provide the services and activities necessary to meet the needs of local people affected by MS. Could you work with the branch chair to help lead the team and oversee these activities?

You will ensure regular liaison on all major matters with the Chair and keep up to date on relevant issues relating to MS, the Society and the branch’s activities, policies and procedures

Training and induction will be given as well as ongoing support.
