Swimming the Channel for MS

6 August 2007 to 12 August 2007, From Shakespeare Beach to Cap Gris Nez

This August, MS Society supporter Jaime Minter-Green will take the ultimate physical challenge and swim the Channel, all in the name of raising money for the MS Society.

The event will be the first challenge for Jaime's brand new initiative 'Mermaids for MS', and will be just one of many exciting events taking place to help Jaime raise her goal of an amazing £100,000 for the MS Society.

Jaime's motivation for swimming the twenty one miles from Shakespeare Beach to Cap Gris Nez is her mother who has MS. "She was diagnosed about ten years ago and has progressed to now being scooter bound and requires a carer. I have seen first hand the effect MS can have on a family and an individual, and I am particularly interested in raising money for research into a cure and/or symptom relief."

The launch event for Mermaids For MS is to be a star-studded night of music and comedy, headlined by X Factor's Andy Abraham, at London's Mermaid Theatre. You can find details of the show, 'Swing For The Swim', on our website, and you can also keep up to date on this and all Mermaids For MS events by visiting their website (see below).
