Stephen Smith

From London gained the Bronze award.

Champion profile:

Stephen is 44 years old and a school caretaker. He is married and has three grown up children. Stephen likes to keep fit and he runs the school's football teams and referees Sunday League football. He is a big fan of Crystal Palace and enjoys watching cricket.

Stephen took part in the Great South Run for the MS Society in 2005. He completed it in 1 hour 39 minutes and had a great day. Stephen has a family connection to MS and decided he wanted to fundraise for the Society. It was the first time he had run for a charity and he was impressed by the support he received from the MS Events team.

He says that he has no tips but is lucky that he and his wife both have generous friends and family. It is essential to train and eat correctly in the build up to an event like that and Stephen found the training chart (sent with all MS Society runner welcome packs) he received very helpful.
