Shirley Ball

From Ipswich, Suffolk gained the Bronze award.

 

Champion profile:

Shirley has had MS for 18 years. She tries to keep busy by making and painting collectable bears, going horse driving with the Riding for the Disabled Association and loves being in her greenhouse.

Shirley made a one-off collectable bear called 'Stooky Bear'. She then setup a website and sold raffle tickets to win Stooky along with photographs taken of him from around the UK.

Shirley's advice is to come up with an idea that is different. A good team of helpers and plenty of planning will help to ensure that the event is successful. Finally, try to get publicity from local radio stations and newspapers.
