Sheila Gordon

From Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire gained the Bronze award.

 

Champion profile:

Sheila is 46 and from Stoke on Trent. She was diagnosed with MS at the age of 30 but is now in remission and able to be reasonably active. Sheila's hobbies include boating, gardening and walking.

Sheila took part in a sponsored canoe challenge to raise money for the MS Society in 2005. She decided to canoe along the canals from Lancaster to Bridgewater, about 150 miles. Sheila was accompanied by her 'Paddle Buddy' Rob on her 10 day journey. They had to carry their canoes around each lock and swing bridge and arrived at the end in time for the Waterways National Festival and Boat Show.

Sheila's advice to future fundraisers is to contact as many people as possible about your event to increase support.
