Nicole Haegeman

From Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire gained the Bronze award.

 

Champion profile:

In 2005, Nicole walked the Camino de Santiago route (Pilgrim's Walk) in Spain. She had always been interested in walking the route from a spiritual perspective but also wanted to make the journey more meaningful. As she has a relative with MS, Nicole decided to support the MS Society while fulfilling a lifetime ambition.

The walk lasted 33 days and involved walking up to 30km a days. Despite starting the journey alone, Nicole was walking with a group for most of the journey. She met some really good friends along the way and especially enjoyed the social side. By the end of the journey everybody felt like family despite having not met before.

Nicole set up a Justgiving page where she not only received sponsorship but also regularly updated family and friends on her progress during the journey.
