Kara Birrell

From Southampton, Hampshire gained the Gold award.

 

Champion profile:

Kara was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 2003. She was determined from the outset to be as pro-active as possible about her diagnosis and decided to put all her efforts into fundraising for the MS Society.

Kara has been involved with various events for the MS Society. She has organised 3 charity balls and completed a tandem skydive with 8 friends. Kara's most recent event was a Monte Carlo supper, which raised £4,500 and promoted her to a Gold member of the Champions Club.

Kara's advice is to arrange an event where everybody will have fun and be willing to get involved. Keep ticket prices to a minimum and then do the majority of the fundraising on the night with fun events which make guests want to take part.
