Hampshire follow-up event

This year’s conference, held on Friday 6th July at the Hampshire Centrecourt Hotel in Basingstoke, was attended by nearly 100 people and was addressed by three keynote speakers:

  • Professor Gavin Giovannoni, Professor of neurology at Queen Mary Hospital, gave an update on the latest research into Multiple Sclerosis.

  • Katrina Percy, Director of Care Services at Hampshire Primary Care Trust, spoke on the development of MS Services in Hampshire in relation to the NSF for Long-term Conditions.

  • Simon Gillespie, Chief Executive of the MS Society, spoke on the priorities of the MS Society in relation to the government Health & Social Care Agenda.

Additionally, there was an opportunity to feed back on the progress we have made against the Action Plan for improving Services which was agreed at last year’s conference.

It was a great opportunity for people to network with colleagues from all over Hampshire. Dennis Morgan, Service Development Officer for the MS Society and Liz McGowan, Service Development Project Leader, updated the conference on developments against the Hampshire action plan since 2006.

The Hampshire Action Plan has been revised and you can download the Hampshire Action Plan (53 kb) [pdf]
